[Question]:How do I create a LISTSERV account?

Visit listserv.okstate.edu.
-
Click on the Log In button in the top right corner of the screen.

The page will update to the below screen. Click Register Password.

Enter your O-Key email address and create a new password.
Note: This is not tied to your O-Key account. The password should be different from O-Key to help prevent security breaches.

After clicking Register Password, you will get a “Confirmation Sent” prompt.

-
Check your inbox and click the link to confirm.

After clicking the confirmation link, you will get the following message.

- Wait 5 minutes and log in.
[Question]:How do I reset my LISTSERV password?

Visit listserv.okstate.edu.

Click on the Log In button in the top right corner of the screen.

The page will update to the below screen. Click Register Password.

[Question]:How do I subscribe to a list?

Visit listserv.okstate.edu.

Sign in using the Log In button in the top right of the screen. If you’ve not already created an account, follow this guide to create one.

Once you’ve logged in, you will see all available lists. You can use the alphabetical menu bar at the top of the page to find the mailing list you want to subscribe to. If you know the name of the mailing list, you can use the search bar on the right-side of the page. Click on the mailing list you want to subscribe to.

- Click the menu icon that consists of three parallel horizontal lines on the right and select Subscribe or Unsubscribe.

On page load, type your full name in the Name field and then click the subscribe button.

After clicking Subscribe, you will get a confirmation email. Your subscription will not be completed until you click the confirmation link.

You will now receive future updates from the mailing list.
[Question]:How do I subscribe to IT Announcements?

Create a new email, addressing it to "listserv@listserv.okstate.edu".
-
Leave the Subject line blank.
-
In the Body, enter "subscribe ITANNOUNCEMENTS firstname lastname". For example, "subscribe ITANNOUNCEMENTS Pistol Pete".

No other text or attachments should be in the body of the email, including signature lines.

Send the email. You should receive a confirmation email with a link to confirm your request. After clicking the confirmation link you will have successfully subscribed to the list.
[Question]:How do I unsubscribe from a list

Visit LISTSERV.okstate.edu.

Sign in using the Log In button in the top right of the screen.

Once you’ve logged in, click Subscriptions on the left panel to view your subscribed lists.

From here, check the box beside each of the lists you want to unsubscribe from. Select Unsubscribe from the left most drop-down list and then click Update in the bottom right.

- You are now removed from the list(s).

Once you’ve logged in, click Subscriptions on the left panel to view your subscribed lists.

- From here, check the box beside each of the lists you want to unsubscribe from. Select Unsubscribe from the left most drop-down list and then click Update in the bottom right.

You are now removed from the list(s).

Once you’ve logged in, click List Management on the left to expand the menu and then click List Configuration.

On the next page at the top, click the Select List drop down to see all lists you are able to manage.
After selecting a list, the lower half of the page will populate the list’s info. Click on the Administrators tab. In the Owners section of the tab, list Primary Owners in the ‘Owner=’ text box. List quiet owners in the ‘Quiet’ text box.
Note: Those listed in the Primary Owners text box will receive error messages.
Secondary\Quiet Owners will not receive error messages.

You can add, edit, or remove e-mail addresses from either text box. List each address on a separate line.

When you have finished making changes, scroll down and click the Save button in the bottom right corner.

- Once you’ve logged in, click List Management on the left to expand the menu and then click List Configuration.

- Once you’ve logged in, click List Management on the left to expand the menu and then click Subscriber Reports.

On the next page at the top, click the Select List drop down to see all lists you’re able to manage.

- After selecting a list, the lower half of the page will populate with all the list’s current subscribers. Under the Add Subscriber header, type the email address of the user you want to add to the list. Click Add Subscriber.

Sign in using the Log In button in the top right of the screen.

- Once you’ve logged in, click List Management on the left to expand the menu and then click Subscriber Reports.

- On the next page at the top, click the Select List drop down to see all lists you’re able to manage.

- After selecting a list, the lower half of the page will populate with all the list’s current subscribers. Check the box beside the name of the subscriber(s) you want to remove and then click Delete Subscribers in the bottom left.

A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm that you want to delete the selected subscribers from the list. Click Delete to remove them from the list.
[Question]:How do I bulk add or remove subscribers?

Sign in using the Log In button in the top right of the screen.

- Once you’ve logged in, click List Management on the left to expand the menu and then click Subscriber Reports.

- On the next page at the top, click the Select List drop down to see all lists you’re able to manage.

- After selecting a list, click Bulk Operations next to the Add Subscriber header. In the pop-up window that appears, select the desired import option.

- Once you’ve selected the desired import option, click Choose File, and select the desired plain text file from the dialog window that appears. Once the file is selected, click Open.Note: Enter each e-mail address on a separate line in the plain text file.
- Click Import to submit the plain text file. The addresses will either be added or removed, depending on the import option chosen. A message confirming the action will display at the top of the pop-up window.

- Close the Bulk Operations pop-up window. The Subscriber Reports page will reload and the updated subscribers list will be displayed.

To print the list, on the dropdown for "Report Format", choose "CSV Format", then click "Update". Clicking "Update" starts the download.
[Question]:How do I Order Archived Postings?
- Determine archive files available.
- Compose a new email to listserv@listserv.okstate.edu.
- Leave the subject line blank.
- Set the message format to plain text.
- In the message body type INDEX with List Name and make sure all other text is removed including signatures, see below example.

- In the message body type OK and make sure all other text is removed including signatures.
- Send the email.
- You will get a reply with a list of archive files, see below example.

- Order archived postings.

[Question]:How do I contact a List Owner?
- To contact the LISTSERV Owner, send an email to <LISTNAME>-request@listserv.okstate.edu. (Replacing LISTNAME with the Name of the List whose owner you are trying to contact).
- Example: petesposse-request@listserv.okstate.edu
- You may receive an email asking to confirm the sending of the email. Click the link to verify and send the email.

[Question]:What Listserv roles are available?

Owners
People responsible for the management and configuration of the mailing list. Owners also receive the errors and administrative notifications for the list.

Quiet Owners
Quiet Owners maintain the same rights as the Primary Owner. They will not receive the errors and administrative notifications.

Editors
Editors and owners are the only persons allowed to post to the list. They will choose when to send a post to others on the list.

Moderators
Moderators receive postings from non-editors and approve them for distribution to the list.

Subscribers
People that receive postings, whether they've joined or got added to the mailing list.
