📞 Activating Your AT&T Mitel 6915 Desk Phone
Step-by-step instructions for connecting and activating your Mitel 6915 VoIP desk phone on the NEO A&M College campus phone system.
📌 Before You Begin
- A working Ethernet connection is available at your desk (the phone uses Power over Ethernet — no separate power adapter needed)
- You know your 4-digit campus extension (your Device ID will be 918540####, where #### is your extension)
- Your phone has been provisioned by IT — contact the Help Desk if you have not received your extension
- Estimated time: 5–10 minutes
🔌 Step 1 — Connect the Ethernet Cable (Power & Network) ⏰ ~1 minute | Mitel 6915
- Locate the Ethernet cable at your desk.
- Plug one end of the Ethernet cable firmly into the port labeled LAN on the back of the phone.
Note: This single cable provides both power (PoE) and network connectivity — no power brick is required.
- Wait a moment while the phone powers on and begins its auto-install sequence.
- Watch the phone display until it shows the prompt: Enter Device ID.
✅ Tip: If the screen stays blank for more than 2 minutes, try reseating the Ethernet cable in the LAN port. Make sure you are not using the PC port by mistake — they are labeled on the back of the phone.
💻 Step 2 — (Optional) Share Your PC’s Network ⏰ ~2 minutes | Optional
The Mitel 6915 includes a built-in network switch so you can share the wall Ethernet port with your computer:
- Plug a second Ethernet cable from the port labeled PC on the back of the phone into your computer’s network jack.
- Your computer will receive its network connection through the phone.
- If you do not need to connect a computer, simply leave the PC port empty.
✅ Tip: This step is completely optional. Your phone will work perfectly without a computer connected to it.
🔢 Step 3 — Enter Your Device ID ⏰ ~2 minutes | Mitel 6915
- When the phone screen displays Enter Device ID, use the phone’s keypad to type your full 10-digit Device ID.
- Your Device ID follows this format: 918540####
Replace #### with your personal 4-digit extension.
Example: If your extension is 1234, enter 9185401234.
- Press the OK or Enter soft key on the phone display to submit.
⚠️ Note: If you do not know your extension, contact the NEO A&M College IT Help Desk before proceeding. Entering an incorrect Device ID will prevent the phone from activating properly.
✓ Step 4 — Verify and Accept ⏰ ~1 minute | Mitel 6915
- The phone display will show the extension number and your name retrieved from the system.
- Confirm that both pieces of information appear correct.
- Press the Accept or OK soft key to confirm and continue.
⚠️ Note: If the name or extension displayed is incorrect, do not press Accept. Press Cancel and contact the IT Help Desk to have your provisioning corrected.
🔄 Step 5 — Reboot and Test ⏰ ~2 minutes | Mitel 6915
- After you accept, the phone will restart automatically. This is normal.
- Wait for the phone to fully reboot (approximately 1–2 minutes).
- Once the phone has restarted, your extension number should appear on the display screen.
- Test the phone by placing a call or asking a colleague to call your extension.
✅ Tip: If the phone reboots but your extension does not appear, unplug and re-plug the LAN Ethernet cable and allow the phone to restart again. If the issue persists, contact the IT Help Desk.
