🔒 Why a Secondary Owner Is Required for a NEO Service Account
Understanding why every NEO service account must have at least one Secondary owner.
✅ Quick Answer
A Secondary owner adds a layer of security and ensures the account can still be maintained if the Primary owner is unavailable. A Secondary owner is required for all service accounts.
Why it is required
The division/department code assigned to the Primary owner in Human Resources is associated with the service account. By having a Secondary owner assigned, an additional layer of security exists for the account. The Secondary owner can maintain the account in case the Primary owner is unavailable.
What this means for you
Every service account must keep at least one Secondary owner at all times. You cannot remove the last Secondary owner from an account.
💡 Tip: See the related articles on adding and removing Secondary owners if you need to update who maintains your account.
⚠ Warning: A service account must have at least one Secondary owner, so add a replacement before removing an existing one.
