🌐 Everything Is Off by the Same Amount 🕐 ~2 minutes | Most likely cause
If every meeting is shifted by the same number of hours, your calendar time zone is wrong. One setting fixes the whole calendar.
- Select the Settings gear in the top-right corner of Outlook.
- Select Calendar, then View.
- Under Time zones, set Display my calendar in time zone to (UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada).
⚠️ Note: There is a setting directly above it: When I travel across time zones, ask me if I want to update my time zone. If you travelled recently and accepted that prompt, this is what changed your calendar. Setting the zone back corrects it.
💡 Tip: This setting belongs to your account, not to the computer you are using. Fixing it once fixes it everywhere you read your mail.
📅 Only One Meeting Is Wrong 🕐 ~2 minutes | Any browser
A single wrong meeting is a different problem from a whole wrong calendar.
- Check who organized it. A meeting created in another time zone is stored in that zone and converted for you — if their zone was set wrongly, yours shows the wrong time.
- Check whether the organizer moved it. An update you have not opened yet can leave the old time showing.
- For a repeating meeting, check whether the wrong occurrence falls across the daylight-saving changeover.
- If it is still wrong, ask the organizer what time they see. If you disagree, the meeting itself needs fixing at their end.
💡 Tip: Ask “what time does it say on your calendar?” before anything else. If you both see the same wrong time, the meeting is wrong. If you see different times, it is a time zone difference between the two of you.
🌎 Working Across Time Zones 🕐 ~1 minute | Optional
If you regularly schedule with people elsewhere, showing a second time zone beside your own prevents most of these problems.
- Go to Settings → Calendar → View.
- Under Time zones, select Add time zone.
- Choose the zone and give it a Label you will recognise.
💡 Tip: Both zones then appear down the side of the day and week views, so you can see at a glance whether a time is reasonable for the other person before you send.
