Summary

Join a Microsoft Teams meeting from your calendar, from an emailed link, or by dialing in, including how to join a meeting at another organization and what to do when you are held in the lobby.

Body

📅 Join a Teams Meeting
From the calendar, from a link, or by phone.
✅ Before You Begin
  • You need an active NEO A&M College account with SSO access
  • An internet connection is required
  • A microphone and speakers, or a headset
  • 🕐 Estimated time: 5 minutes
📌 Jump to Your Section

📅 Join From Your Calendar 🕐 ~1 minute  |  Teams app
  1. Select Calendar in the column of icons on the left.
  2. Find the meeting and select it.
  3. Select Join.
  4. Check your camera and microphone on the screen that appears, then select Join now.
    • This is the moment to notice you are muted, or that the wrong microphone is selected.
💡 Tip: Your Teams calendar and your Outlook calendar are the same calendar. A meeting accepted in one appears in the other.

🔗 Join From a Link 🕐 ~2 minutes  |  Email or web
Meetings from outside NEO usually arrive as a link rather than a calendar item.
  1. Select Join the meeting now in the invitation.
  2. Choose whether to continue in the Teams app or in your browser.
    • The app generally handles screen sharing better. The browser is fine for listening in.
  3. If you are joining another organization’s meeting, you may be asked for your name before you can enter.
⚠️ Note: You may be held in a lobby until the organizer admits you. That is normal for meetings hosted outside NEO, and there is nothing to fix — wait, or message the organizer.

📞 Join by Phone 🕐 ~2 minutes  |  No internet needed
If your connection is poor or you are driving, most invitations include a dial-in number.
  1. Find the phone number and conference ID in the meeting invitation.
  2. Dial the number and enter the conference ID when prompted.
🚨 Warning: Do not join a meeting by phone while driving. Audio-only still means taking part in a conversation.
⚠️ Note: Not every meeting has a dial-in number. If the invitation does not show one, it was not enabled by the organizer.
