πŸ“ Find a Channel’s Files πŸ• ~2 minutes  |  Teams app
  1. Select the team, then the channel.
  2. Select Shared at the top of the channel.
  3. Everything posted or uploaded to that channel is listed there.
⚠️ Note: Team files are stored in SharePoint, not on anyone’s computer. That is why they survive a person leaving and why everyone sees the same version.

✍️ Edit Together πŸ• ~3 minutes  |  Any member
Two people can edit the same document at once. Nothing needs to be checked out or emailed round.
  1. Select the file to open it inside Teams.
  2. Edit it directly — changes save automatically as you type.
  3. Select Open in app if you need the full desktop features of Word or Excel.
πŸ’‘ Tip: You can see who else is in the document and where they are working. If two of you edit the same paragraph, the later change wins — so say something in the channel first.
🚨 Warning: Downloading a copy, editing it, and re-uploading is how teams end up with three versions and no way to tell which is current. Edit in place instead.

πŸ“€ Add a File πŸ• ~2 minutes
⚠️ Note: These steps come from Microsoft’s current published documentation rather than from a walkthrough on a NEO computer. The button names should match; if yours differ, tell the Help Desk so this article can be corrected.
  1. Drag the file onto the channel, or use Upload on the Shared tab.
  2. To share it with a message, attach it to a post — Teams posts a link rather than a copy.
πŸ’‘ Tip: A link means everyone reads the current version. An emailed attachment is a snapshot that starts going stale the moment you send it.
