Summary
Fix the usual causes when a print job does not come out: the wrong printer selected, a stalled queue, an offline printer, or a job stuck behind someone else's. Includes how to clear your own queue and exactly what to tell IT if none of it helps. To install a printer you do not have yet, see Add a Campus Printer to Your NEO Computer.

π§ Printing Problems β When Your Job Does Not Come Out
Work through the common causes when a print job disappears, stalls, or never reaches the printer.
β
Before You Begin
- You need to be signed in to the computer you printed from
- For anything physical β paper, toner, jams β you need to be standing at the printer
- π Estimated time: 5 minutes

Check These First
π ~2 minutes Β |Β Solves most cases
- Check you sent it to the right printer. If your default changed, the job may be sitting in a tray in another building.
- Walk to the printer and look at its screen for a message β out of paper, toner low, or a paper jam.
- Check the output tray. Someone may have picked your pages up with theirs.
- Confirm you are on the campus network. Campus printers are unreachable from home unless you are connected to the VPN.
- Try printing one page from a different application, such as Notepad. If that works, the problem is the original document.
π Clear a Stuck Queue
π ~2 minutes Β |Β Windows
A single failed job can hold up everything behind it. Clearing it usually releases the rest.
- Open Settings, then Bluetooth & devices, then Printers & scanners.
- Click your printer, then Open print queue.
- Look for a job marked Error or Deleting.
- Right-click that job and choose Cancel.
- Wait about thirty seconds, then send your document again.
β οΈ Note: You can cancel your own jobs. Jobs belonging to other people on a shared printer have to be cleared by IT β do not keep resending, as that just lengthens the queue.
π If It Still Will Not Print
π ~2 minutes Β |Β Contact IT
- The printer name as it appears in your printer list, such as
NEO_MGYM_105.
- Whether anyone else can print to it, or just you.
- What the printer's own screen says, word for word.
- Whether it has ever worked from this computer.
- The name of the computer you are printing from β usually on a sticker on the case.
π‘ Tip: βNobody on the second floor can printβ and βonly my computer cannot printβ are diagnosed completely differently. Telling us which one it is saves a visit.
