Ethernet/Wired Connectivity

This service provides high-speed, wired Ethernet connections to support secure and reliable internet access for faculty, staff, and students in campus buildings. Ethernet is often used when wireless access is insufficient or when devices require a more stable, dedicated connection.

IP Address Management

The IP Address Management (IPAM) service provides centralized control and oversight of IP address space, DNS records, and DHCP configurations across the university’s network. IPAM helps prevent address conflicts, supports device discoverability, and ensures compliance with OSU’s network architecture and naming standards. Whether a device requires a static IP for specialized use or dynamic addressing through DHCP, this service ensures it is properly registered and integrated into the campus infrastructure.

Network Consultation

The Network Consultation service offers professional guidance to support planning, design, and decision-making for network infrastructure across campus. Whether you're building a new facility, remodeling a space, or simply needing to expand connectivity in an existing area, this service helps ensure your network needs are addressed effectively and align with OSU's standards. Our goal is to help departments avoid costly rework, improve long-term performance, and ensure compatibility with campus-wide IT systems. By engaging with the Network Services team early in the process, users benefit from expert input on wired and wireless design.

VPN

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) service allows authorized users to securely connect to internal network from remote or off-campus locations. VPN provides encrypted access to campus resources that are not available over the public internet, such as file shares, internal websites, and administrative systems. This service maintains secure and reliable access while working remotely.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is a wireless technology that allows customers to connect to the network without physical cables.

Wireless connectivity is available in most areas of campus. Networks are set up for different groups of users and functions. Look for the following networks:

- eduroam (for students and staff)
- OSUGUEST (guests sponsored by departments)
- OSUREGISTERED (for devices lacking keyboard input capability).
