Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
Intended Audience: Students, Alumni, Staff, Faculty
Purpose
This Standard Operating Procedure article will help Students, Alumni, Faculty, and Staff to install Grammarly on all Devices.
Requirements
The user of this article must have admin access to the Users computer in order to successfully accomplish the following procedures.
Step-by-Step Procedures
Windows
- Go to https://www.grammarly.com/desktop/windows
- You might be prompted to sign in. If you are not prompted to sign in, please go to step 3.
- If you are prompted to sign in, please sign in with your to your account.
- You should now see a screen that has the words "Nothing here yet". These words will only appear if you don't have any documents in Grammarly.
- On the left-hand side of your screen, click "Apps".

- Once the new screen loads, in the section labeled "Grammarly for Windows", click "Install". You may see "Re-install" if Grammarly is already installed or was previously installed on this account. When the download completes, Please skip to step 5.

- Please click where it says "Download Grammarly It's Free".

- Then a new page should load. After a few seconds, an icon looking like the one below should appear on the top right-hand side of your screen. Click that Icon.
- If the icon does not show up after a minute, click "Restart the Download" which is located on the top left side of your screen.

- Once you click on that Icon, you should see a file from Grammarly that is similar to the one below. Click on that file.

- Once the install is done, and you have installed Grammarly before on your device, click "Continue to Grammarly".
- If you have not installed Grammarly before, you will be asked to sign in. Please sign in.
- A Pop-up should appear asking if you want to always allow Grammarly to open links in the associated app, open Grammarly, or just open Grammarly. This is completely up to the User.

- A tutorial will appear, if you would like to go through the tutorial, click "Next" in the top left-hand corner. If you would like to skip the tutorial, click "Skip" at the top right-hand corner of the tutorial.

- Once you are through the tutorial, you will be prompted to choose a plan, choose the Free plan by selecting "Continue to Grammarly" in the Free section.

- If you would like to confirm that Grammarly is working with an Office Application Such as Word, open a new Word document and start typing. If you see an icon on the bottom right-hand side of the page that looks the same as the image below, then Grammarly is properly installed and working!

MAC
- Go to https://www.grammarly.com/desktop/mac
- You might be prompted to sign in. If you are not prompted to sign in, please go to step 3.
- If you are prompted to sign in, please sign in with your to your account.
- You should now see a screen that has the words "Nothing here yet". These words will only appear if you don't have any documents in Grammarly.
- On the left-hand side of your screen, click "Apps".

- Once the new screen loads, in the section labeled "Grammarly for MAC", click "Install". You may see "Re-install" if Grammarly is already installed or was previously installed on this account. When the download completes, Please skip to step 6.

- Please click where it says "Get Grammarly It's Free".

- Then a new page should load. After a few seconds, an icon looking like the one below should appear on the top right-hand side of your screen. Click that Icon.
- If the icon does not show up after a minute, click "Restart the Download" which is located on the top left side of your screen.

- Once you click on that Icon, you should see a file from Grammarly that is similar to the one below. Click on that file.

- A pop-up should appear towards the bottom of your screen asking you to double-click the Grammarly Icon located below the message. Please do so.

- After you double-click the icon, another pop-up will appear. This one will ask if you are sure you want to open it. Please click "Open".

- Another pop-up will appear asking to grant Grammarly access to your computer's accessibility features so the app can function properly.Please click "Grant Access".

- The next pop-up that appears will be of your device's settings, prompting you to allow access by clicking a button on the top right of the pop-up next to "Grammarly Desktop". Please click that button.

- If you would like to confirm that Grammarly is working with an Office application, such as Word, open a new Word document and start typing. If you see an icon on the bottom right-hand side of the page that looks the same as the image below, then Grammarly is properly installed and working!
