What is Cisco Jabber?

Cisco Jabber is a desktop and mobile application that enables you to make and receive calls using your work phone number, listen to voicemails, and manage call forwarding settings, all from your computer or mobile device. Think of it as your office phone, but as a flexible app!

How do I request to add/remove jabber?

Jabber can be requested from the service catalog from Service Catalog / Infrastructure / Telephones / Telephone (service.okstate.edu) and choosing the service offering Add or remove softphone services for an existing campus landline.

Which devices are compatible?

Windows 10/11

MacOS 13 or later

Jabber for Mobile

Android OS 10.0 or later

iPhone Xs, Xs Max, 11, XR and SE, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17

Where to download Cisco Jabber for Desktop installation?

Cisco Jabber for Mobile can be installed on Android phones or Apple iPhones

The application can be installed from the respective app store by searching for Cisco Jabber

How do I install Cisco Jabber for Desktop (Windows/Mac)?

Windows 

  1. Download the application file at https://jabber.okstate.edu/CiscoJabberSetup.msi
  2. Open the installation file you just downloaded
  3. Click Accept and Install 
  4. If prompted to allow the app to make changes, click YES.
  5. Press Finish to complete installation.
  6. Jabber will open. If it does not open, click the Cisco Jabber application to open
  7. Enter your OKEY email credentials (not alias) to set up your profile
  8. Ready to send/receive calls or check voicemail 

Note: Please check your internet connection if you receive a "no connection to server" error message.

Mac

  1. Download the application file at https://jabber.okstate.edu/CiscoJabberMac.pkg
  2. Follow the prompts to install Jabber.
  3. Once it is installed, launch the Jabber application from your programs.
  4. When the Cisco Jabber window opens, enter your OKEY email credentials (not alias) to set up your profile (abc123@okstate.edu).
  5. Ready to send/receive calls or check voicemail 

Note: Please check your internet connection if you receive a "no connection to server" error message.

How do I log into multiple accounts on Cisco Jabber for Microsoft Windows and are logging into the computer using domain (O-Key credentials)?

Cisco Jabber (as of 12.9.1) will need to be reinstalled using an administrator Command Prompt by modifying installer properties. In the Administrator Command prompt, enter the command "msiexec.exe /i CiscoJabberSetup.msi UPN_DISCOVERY_ENABLED=false CLEAR=1" (without the quotes) from the directory where the CiscoJabberSetup.msi file is located.
