How do I restore deleted files in OneDrive

Purpose

The purpose of this guide is to help users recover deleted files in OneDrive by using the Recycle Bin and Second-stage Recycle Bin, ensuring important data can be restored within the retention period.

Requirements

 

OneDrive has a recycle bin and a second stage recycle bin. A deleted file can be found in the recycle bins up to 3 months after deletion unless the file(s) were purged from both recycle bins.

  1. To access OneDrive via the web, go to http://cowboymail.okstate.edu and sign in with your O-Key credentials

  2. Once logged in, click the App Launcher in the top left and select "OneDrive".

  3. Click "Recycle Bin" from the navigation menu on the left. If you do not see the file in the recycle bin, scroll to the bottom of the list, and click the link to "Check the Second stage recycle bin".

  4. Click the circle to the left of each file you wish to restore to select them.

  5. Click "Restore" from the menu at the top of the page to restore the file(s).
