Purpose
This article will help Microsoft Teams users restore files that were deleted from a Team’s Files tab or the connected SharePoint site. It provides clear, step-by-step instructions for accessing the SharePoint Recycle Bin and recovering the file to its original location.
Requirements
- Valid O-Key account.
- Access to the Team and Channel where the file was originally located.
- Appropriate permissions in SharePoint to view and restore items from the Recycle Bin.
- Access to Microsoft Teams (desktop, web, or mobile) and a web browser to open the associated SharePoint site.
Step-by-Step Procedures
If you deleted a file from the Files or SharePoint tab in Microsoft Teams, follow these steps to restore it:
- Open Microsoft Teams.
- Navigate to the Team where the deleted file was located.
- Select the Channel that contained the file.
- Click the Files tab at the top.
- Select Open in SharePoint.
- In the SharePoint site that opens, click Recycle bin in the left-hand menu.
- Find the deleted file, right-click it, and select Restore.
- Confirm the restoration when prompted.
The file will be restored to its original location in Teams.
