Installing Microsoft Office 365 on Android
Step-by-step guide for NEO A&M College students, faculty, and staff to download, install, and activate Microsoft Office 365 apps on an Android smartphone or tablet using their institutional account.
📋 Before You Begin
  • A valid NEO A&M College email address and Microsoft 365 account (e.g., username@neo.edu)
  • An Android device running Android 10.0 or later
  • An active internet connection (Wi-Fi recommended)
  • Approximately 500 MB of storage space per app
  • A Google account to access the Google Play Store
  • Estimated time: 5–10 minutes per app (depending on internet speed)
▶️ Step 1 – Open the Google Play Store ⏱️ Est. Time: 1–2 minutes  |  🤖 Android 10.0+
  1. On your Android device, locate and tap the Google Play Store icon on your home screen or in your app drawer.
  2. Ensure you are signed in with your Google account. If prompted, sign in before continuing.
💡 Tip: Using Wi-Fi instead of mobile data is recommended to avoid large data charges and for faster download speeds.
⬇️ Step 2 – Download the Microsoft Office Apps ⏱️ Est. Time: 5–10 min per app  |  🤖 Android 10.0+

Microsoft 365 apps are available individually from the Google Play Store. Install one or all of the following depending on your needs:

  1. Tap the Search bar at the top of the Google Play Store.
  2. Type the name of the app you want to install and tap Search:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Microsoft Teams
  3. Tap the correct app from the search results, then tap Install.
  4. Wait for the app to finish downloading before repeating for any additional apps.
⚠️ Note: Make sure you select the official Microsoft app from the search results. Look for the Microsoft Corporation label under the app name to confirm it is the authentic app.
🔐 Step 3 – Open and Sign In to a Microsoft 365 App ⏱️ Est. Time: 2–3 minutes  |  🤖 Android 10.0+
  1. Tap any installed Microsoft 365 app (e.g., Word) to open it.
  2. On the welcome screen, tap Sign In.
  3. Enter your NEO A&M College email address (e.g., username@neo.edu) and tap Next.
  4. Enter your password and complete any Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) prompts if required.
  5. Tap Sign In to continue.
💡 Tip: Once you sign in to one Microsoft 365 app with your username@neo.edu account, you will not need to sign in again for other Microsoft 365 apps on the same device — they will recognize your account automatically.
✅ Step 4 – Activate Office 365 ⏱️ Est. Time: Under 1 minute  |  🤖 Android 10.0+
  1. After signing in, the app will automatically verify your Microsoft 365 license.
  2. Once verified, the app will be fully activated and ready to use.
  3. You do not need to repeat the sign-in process for each additional app you install.
💡 Tip: Office 365 requires an internet connection at least once every 30 days to verify your license. Keep your apps updated via the Google Play Store for the best performance and security.
🔍 Step 5 – Verify Your Installation ⏱️ Est. Time: 1 minute  |  🤖 Android 10.0+
  1. Open any Microsoft 365 app.
  2. Tap the profile icon in the upper corner of the screen.
  3. Confirm that your NEO A&M College email (username@neo.edu) is listed.
  4. This confirms your license is active and the app is fully set up.
💡 Tip: If you are no longer affiliated with NEO A&M College, your access to Microsoft 365 apps may be revoked. Contact the IT Help Desk if you believe your access has been incorrectly removed.
