How to Update Mozilla Firefox
Keep Mozilla Firefox up to date for the latest security patches, performance improvements, and new features — on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
📋 Before You Begin
  • Mozilla Firefox must already be installed on your device.
  • An active internet connection is required to download updates.
  • On desktop, Firefox updates itself automatically — these steps let you check and apply updates manually.
  • Estimated time: 2–5 minutes depending on your device and internet speed.

🖥️ Windows   |   ⏱️ Estimated Time: 2–5 minutes   |   Requires: Windows 10 or Windows 11
  1. Open Mozilla Firefox on your computer.
  2. Click the Menu button (☰) in the top-right corner of the browser.
  3. Click Help from the menu.
  4. Select About Firefox.
  5. A small window will open — Firefox will automatically check for updates and begin downloading them if available.
  6. Once the download is complete, click Restart to Update Firefox.
  7. Firefox will restart and the update will be applied.
⚠️ Note: If Firefox is already up to date, you will see the message "Firefox is up to date" — no further action is needed.
💡 Tip: Firefox updates itself automatically in the background. These steps are only needed if you want to manually trigger an update right away.

🍎 Mac   |   ⏱️ Estimated Time: 2–5 minutes   |   Requires: macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
  1. Open Mozilla Firefox on your Mac.

  5. A small window will open — Firefox will automatically check for updates and begin downloading them if available.
  6. Once the download is complete, click Restart to Update Firefox.
  7. Firefox will restart and apply the update automatically.
⚠️ Note: If Firefox is already up to date, you will see the message "Firefox is up to date" — no further action is needed.
💡 Tip: Firefox updates itself automatically in the background on Mac as well. Use these steps only if you want to force a manual update check.
