How to Update Mozilla Firefox
Keep Mozilla Firefox up to date for the latest security patches, performance improvements, and new features — on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
📋 Before You Begin
- Mozilla Firefox must already be installed on your device.
- An active internet connection is required to download updates.
- On desktop, Firefox updates itself automatically — these steps let you check and apply updates manually.
- Estimated time: 2–5 minutes depending on your device and internet speed.
🖥️ Windows | ⏱️ Estimated Time: 2–5 minutes | Requires: Windows 10 or Windows 11
- Open Mozilla Firefox on your computer.
- Click the Menu button (☰) in the top-right corner of the browser.
- Click Help from the menu.
- Select About Firefox.
- A small window will open — Firefox will automatically check for updates and begin downloading them if available.
- Once the download is complete, click Restart to Update Firefox.
- Firefox will restart and the update will be applied.
⚠️ Note: If Firefox is already up to date, you will see the message "Firefox is up to date" — no further action is needed.
💡 Tip: Firefox updates itself automatically in the background. These steps are only needed if you want to manually trigger an update right away.
