Performing Cold (Blind) and Warm (Attended) Transfers on Mitel IP Phones

📞 Performing Cold (Blind) and Warm (Attended) Transfers on Mitel IP Phones
A step-by-step guide for transferring active calls using Cold (Blind) and Warm (Attended) methods on your Mitel IP desk phone.
📌 Before You Begin
  • You have an active Mitel IP phone that is provisioned and connected to the NEO A&M College campus network
  • You are currently on an active call that you wish to transfer
  • You know the destination extension or full telephone number
  • Estimated time: Under 1 minute per transfer

❄️ Section 1 — Cold (Blind/Unsupervised) Transfer ⏱ Under 1 min  |  All Mitel IP Phones

Transfers the call immediately without announcement or confirmation — the caller is sent directly to the destination.

  1. During the active call, press the Transfer soft-key on your Mitel phone.
  2. Dial the destination extension or full telephone number.
  3. Press Transfer again, or simply hang up to complete the transfer.
📋 Result: The call is sent directly to the destination party and you are removed from the call immediately.
💡 Tip: Use a Cold Transfer when you do not need to speak with the receiving party first — for example, transferring to a voicemail box or a known available colleague.

🔥 Section 2 — Warm (Attended/Supervised) Transfer ⏱ 1–2 min  |  All Mitel IP Phones

Allows you to speak with the destination party before completing the transfer — ideal for introducing the caller or confirming availability.

  1. During the active call, press the Transfer soft-key on your Mitel phone.
  2. Dial the destination extension or full telephone number.
  3. Wait for the destination party to answer, then announce the call.
  4. Press Transfer again, or hang up to complete the transfer.
  5. If the destination party declines the transfer, press Drop to return to the original caller.
💡 Tip: Use a Warm Transfer when you want to introduce the caller to the receiving party or verify they are available and ready to take the call.
⚠️ Note: If you hang up before pressing Transfer a second time during a Warm Transfer, the call may be dropped. Always press Transfer to safely complete the handoff, or press Drop to cancel and return to the original caller.
