📬 Voicemail Setup on the Mitel 6915 Desk Phone
A step-by-step guide for setting up your voicemail PIN, name announcement, and personal greeting on your Mitel 6915 desk phone at NEO A&M College.
📌 Before You Begin
- Your Mitel 6915 desk phone is connected and active on the NEO A&M College campus network
- You know your 4-digit campus extension (your default PIN is 918 followed by your extension)
- You are setting up voicemail for the first time, or have been asked to reset your PIN
- Estimated time: 3–5 minutes
📞 Step 1 — Press the Voicemail Button ⏱ ~30 seconds | Mitel 6915
- Look at your Mitel 6915 desk phone and locate the Voicemail button (it has an envelope icon).
- Press the Voicemail button to connect to the voicemail system.
💡 Tip: The Voicemail button is typically located in the bottom-left area of your phone, marked with a small envelope or message icon. Refer to the label on your phone if you are unsure.
🔑 Step 2 — Enter Your Default Password ⏱ ~30 seconds | First-time setup
- When prompted, enter your default PIN. Your default PIN is 918 followed by your four-digit extension.
Example: extension 1234 → PIN is 9181234
- Press # after entering your PIN to confirm.
⚠️ Note: If you do not know your extension, check the sticker on your phone or contact the IT Help Desk at (918) 540-6099.
🔒 Step 3 — Change Your PIN ⏱ ~1 minute | 6–12 digit PIN required
- The voicemail system will prompt you to select a new PIN.
- Enter a new PIN that is between 6 and 12 digits long.
- Press # to confirm your new PIN.
- When prompted, re-enter your new PIN to verify it, then press # again.
💡 Tip: Choose a PIN that is easy for you to remember but hard for others to guess. Avoid simple sequences like 123456 or your extension number repeated.
⚠️ Note: Your PIN must be 6 to 12 digits. PINs shorter than 6 digits will not be accepted by the system.
🎙️ Step 4 — Record Your Name Announcement ⏱ ~1 minute | Speak clearly
- Follow the voice prompts to record your name announcement.
- When prompted, speak your name clearly into the phone handset or speakerphone.
- Press # when you are done recording.
- Listen to the playback. Press 1 to accept the recording, or press 2 to re-record if needed.
💡 Tip: Your name announcement is played to callers when their call is transferred to your voicemail. Say your first and last name clearly — for example: "Chris Smith."
📢 Step 5 — Record Your Voicemail Greeting ⏱ ~1 minute | Speak clearly
- After saving your name announcement, the system will present a menu.
- Press 5 to record your personal voicemail greeting.
- Speak clearly into the handset or speakerphone to record your greeting message.
- Press # when you are done speaking.
- Listen to the playback. Press 1 to accept, or press 2 to re-record.
💡 Tip: A good voicemail greeting includes your name, department, and a request to leave a message. Example: "Hi, you've reached Chris Smith in the IT Department at NEO A&M College. Please leave your name, number, and a brief message and I'll return your call as soon as possible. Thank you."
⚠️ Note: Once your greeting is saved, your voicemail setup is complete. Future callers will hear your personal greeting when leaving you a message.
