βοΈ Edit or Cancel a Meeting
Change the details of a meeting you organize, or call it off.
β
Before You Begin
- You need an active NEO A&M College account with SSO access
- An internet connection is required
- You must be the organizer. If someone else set the meeting up, you can only ask them to change it
- π Estimated time: 3 minutes
π» Which Outlook do these steps describe?
Written for
Outlook on the web and
New Outlook for Windows, which share the same layout.
Classic Outlook for Windows is laid out differently. If your ribbon has a
Send / Receive tab, you are using classic β see
Classic Outlook vs. New Outlook, or contact the Help Desk if these steps do not match what you see.
π Jump to Your Section
βοΈ Change a Meeting π ~2 minutes | Organizer only
- In Calendar, double-click the meeting to open it. (A single click opens a summary card; you need the full form.)
- Change whatever you need β the time, the location, the attendee list, the notes.
- Select Send to save the change and tell everyone.
π‘ Tip: Add a line to the body explaining what moved before you send. βMoved an hour later to avoid the Board meetingβ stops a round of replies asking why.
β οΈ Note: Changing the time or date sends every attendee a fresh invitation and clears their previous responses, so you will need to watch for replies again. Editing only the body or the title does not reset responses.
β Cancel a Meeting π ~1 minute | Organizer only
- In Calendar, right-click the meeting.
- Select Cancel.
- Add a short reason in the message box β attendees see it.
- Select Send.
π¨ Warning: Cancelling cannot be undone. The meeting is removed from every attendeeβs calendar as well as your own, and a cancellation notice goes out immediately. If you only want to move it, edit the meeting instead β do not cancel and recreate.
β οΈ Note: You will see Cancel only on meetings you organize. On a meeting someone else organized, the same menu offers to remove it from your own calendar, which does not affect anybody else.
π Repeating Meetings: One Occurrence or All of Them π ~1 minute | Repeating meetings
When you open a repeating meeting, the toolbar shows two buttons: Event and Series. Which one is selected decides how far your change reaches.
- Event β changes only the occurrence you opened. Use this to move a single weekβs meeting.
- Series β changes every occurrence, past and future. Use this to move the meeting permanently.
π¨ Warning: Selecting Series when you meant Event rewrites the whole repeating meeting for everyone, and any individually-moved occurrences are lost. Check which button is highlighted before you send.
