🎓 Log In to Canvas at NEO
Reach your courses, assignments and grades — and fix the sign-in problems that stop you.
✅ Before You Begin
- An activated NEO account — your GoldKey username and password
- Duo multifactor set up on your phone, if you have been prompted to enrol
- 🕐 Estimated time: 2 minutes
💻 Log In on a Computer 🕐 ~2 minutes | Any browser
- Go to neo.instructure.com.
- You will be sent to the NEO single sign-on page. This is expected — Canvas hands sign-in off to the same system that protects your email.
- Enter your GoldKey username and password.
- Approve the Duo prompt on your phone if you are asked for one.
💡 Tip: There is no separate "Canvas password." Canvas uses your GoldKey password, so changing one changes both.
📱 Log In on Your Phone or Tablet 🕐 ~3 minutes | iOS & Android
- Install Canvas Student from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app and search for your school. Type NEO, or Northeastern Oklahoma if that finds nothing.
- If the search does not find NEO, enter the address neo.instructure.com directly.
- Sign in with your GoldKey username and password, and approve the Duo prompt.
🔧 When You Cannot Log In
| What is happening |
What to do |
| Forgot your password |
Reset it at neo.edu/password. The new password works for Canvas, email and campus computers. |
| You have never signed in anywhere yet |
Activate your account first — see Activate Your New NEO Account in this knowledge base. |
| Password works elsewhere but not Canvas |
Clear your browser cache and cookies, or open a private / incognito window and try again. A stale sign-in session is the usual cause. |
| You get sent back to the login page in a loop |
Same fix — private window, or clear cookies for okstate.edu and instructure.com. |
| Duo prompt never arrives |
See Set Up Duo Multifactor Authentication in this knowledge base. |
📚 Logged In, But a Course Is Missing
If you can sign in but a class is not listed, this is almost never an IT problem:
- You enrolled recently. New enrollments take time to reach Canvas. Give it a day.
- The instructor has not published the course yet. Courses are invisible to students until published — this is up to the instructor, and it is common right before a term starts.
- Check with your instructor or advisor first. They can see your enrollment and whether the course is published; the Help Desk cannot change either.
⚠️ Note: Questions about grades, enrollment holds or dropping a class go to the Registrar or your advisor. IT can fix your sign-in; we cannot change your record.
