How to Sign In to Outlook on the Web

🔒 How to Sign In to Outlook on the Web
Reach your NEO email from any computer with a browser.
✅ Before You Begin
  • You need an active NEO A&M College account with SSO access
  • An internet connection is required
  • Your NEO email address, in the form name@neo.edu
  • Your phone or authenticator app, if you are prompted for multi-factor authentication
  • 🕐 Estimated time: 5 minutes

🔑 Sign In 🕐 ~2 minutes  |  Any browser
Outlook on the web works in any modern browser on any computer, on or off campus. Nothing is installed.
  1. Open a browser and go to outlook.office.com.
  2. Enter your full NEO email address — for example name@neo.edu.
    • Type the whole address, including @neo.edu. A user name on its own is not enough at this prompt.
  3. Select Next.
  4. Enter your password on the NEO sign-in page and select Sign in.
  5. If you are prompted for multi-factor authentication, approve the request.
    • Approve the notification in your authenticator app, or enter the code you are sent.
  6. Choose whether to stay signed in. On a shared or public computer, select No.
💡 Tip: Your mailbox is the same wherever you open it. Mail read on the web is marked read on your phone and in the desktop app, because it all lives on the account rather than on any one device.
⚠️ Note: Bookmark outlook.office.com rather than the long address you are left on after signing in. That address contains session details and will not work later.

🚪 Sign Out and Shared Computers 🕐 ~1 minute  |  Important on shared machines
Closing the browser tab does not sign you out. On any computer you do not control — a lab machine, a classroom podium, a kiosk — sign out deliberately.
  1. Select your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Sign out.
  3. Close the browser window completely when the sign-out page appears.
🚨 Warning: If you selected Stay signed in on a shared computer, the next person to open the browser may reach your mailbox. Sign out, and if you are not sure whether you did, change your password and contact the Help Desk.

🔧 If You Cannot Sign In 🕐 ~5 minutes  |  Before calling the Help Desk
Most failed sign-ins come down to a small number of causes. Work down this list first, and tell us what you have already tried.
  1. The password is refused. Confirm you are typing your NEO password, not a personal Microsoft account password.
    • A NEO account and a personal Outlook.com account can look similar but are different accounts with different passwords.
  2. The page keeps returning to the sign-in prompt. Try a private or incognito browser window.
    • This rules out a stale saved session, which is the usual cause of a loop.
  3. You are not receiving the multi-factor prompt. Check that your phone has signal and that the authenticator app is not waiting on an update.
  4. You see a message that the account is blocked or locked. Stop and contact the Help Desk — this is not something to fix by retrying.
💡 Tip: When you contact us, the exact wording of the error message is the single most useful thing you can give us. A screenshot is ideal.
